Maintaining the Beauty of Our Products

An important part of any successful project begins in choosing products that will provide the look you desire. Whether designing a fireplace surround, enhancing an entrance to your home, or adding a patio; aside from aesthetic beauty - function and durability are just as important for a project to look great for many years to come. Therefore after construction is complete, the most important on-going task is to maintain what you have achieved. Since many of Miller Brick's products are made of brick, stone and clay, maintenance is relatively simple.

Maintaining Pavers and Retaining Walls

Most pavers and retaining blocks require very little maintenance. Some products are more susceptible or resistant to color fading, and some are easier to clean when needing to remove dirt and stains. Simple care involves sweeping or hosing your patio or walls on a regular basis. To achieve optimal results, a high-pressured hose system works best. These are facts to consider when making your product selections, and your Miller Brick Consultant can help. Miller Brick can provide catalogs, brochures and guides that are specifically designed for the products you purchase.

Most Manufacturers' recommend you seal your pavers immediately following installation, then every 2-3 years to follow. Sealer will help to maintain the color and that "new look". Stains and spills will be much easier to remove, ensuring that your patio will be beautiful for years to come.

Miller Brick has a complete line of specialty care products and accessories to keep your outdoor area clean and well preserved.

Maintaining Veneer Stone

Like any other cement product, certain weather conditions may show signs of efflorescence, and just as natural stone; veneer stone can show signs of scuffing. With proper handling there should not be heavy scuffing.

To remove mortar and light scuffing, clean immediately with a little water and a soft nylon brush. Once mortar has bonded to the face of the stone, it is very hard to remove so it is very important to clean the day of installation.

To protect the beauty of your veneer stone, do not sandblast, pressure wash, use wire brushes or acidic compounds. Manufacturers recommend a sealer for exterior applications to protect mortar joints and limit the amount of vapor penetration.
